Draft for review. This policy is a starting draft for the website proposal and is not legal advice. It should be reviewed by a licensed attorney before the site goes live.
High Paw Walks ("High Paw Walks," "we," "us") provides individual dog walks and positive basic training in Irvine, Santa Ana, and Orange, California. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through this website and when you book or use our services, how we use it, and the choices and rights you have.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Booking an assessment: your name, email address, and the date and time you choose.
- During and after your assessment: information you choose to share about your dog (name, breed, age, behavior, health or care needs, veterinarian contact), your home or meeting location for walks, access instructions, and your phone number.
- Messages: anything you send us by email, WhatsApp, or Instagram.
- Payments: when you pay for a service, payment details are entered with our payment processor. We receive confirmation of payment but do not store full card numbers.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information when you visit, such as IP address, browser type, pages visited, and the date and time of the visit, for security and to keep the site working. This website does not use advertising cookies, analytics trackers, or cross-site tracking technologies. If that changes, we will update this policy first.
How we use your information
- To schedule, confirm, reschedule, or cancel your assessment and services.
- To send booking confirmations, reminders, and messages related to your service.
- To provide safe, appropriate care for your dog.
- To process payments and keep business and tax records.
- To respond to your questions and requests.
- To protect the security of our website, our clients, and our business, and to comply with the law.
We will only send you marketing emails if you ask to receive them, and every marketing email will include a way to unsubscribe. Service messages about a booking you made are not marketing.
Photos of your dog
We may take photos or videos of your dog during walks or training to share with you. We will only post them publicly (for example, on Instagram) with your permission, and you can withdraw that permission at any time.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share it only as needed to run our business:
- Service providers that help us operate, such as website hosting, calendar and email (for example, Google), and payment processing (for example, Stripe). They may use your information only to provide services to us.
- Messaging platforms: if you contact us on WhatsApp or Instagram, those messages are also handled under Meta's own privacy policies.
- Emergencies: with a veterinarian or emergency contact if your dog needs care.
- Legal reasons: when required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our clients, their dogs, us, or others.
- Business transfer: if the business is sold or reorganized, subject to this policy.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above: generally while you are a client and for a reasonable period afterward, or longer if required for tax, accounting, or legal reasons. Booking requests that never become a service are deleted when they are no longer needed.
How we protect information
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including secure (HTTPS) connections and access limited to the people who need it. Home access details (such as keys or door codes) are kept private and used only to provide your service. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Your privacy rights, including California residents
Depending on where you live and the laws that apply to us, you may have the right to:
- Know what personal information we have collected about you and how we use and share it.
- Get a copy of your personal information.
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Delete your personal information, subject to legal exceptions.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell or share it).
- Limit the use of sensitive personal information (we do not use it for purposes that require this).
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.
To make a request, email hello@highpawwalks.com. We will confirm your identity by matching the information you provide with what we have (usually your name and email) and respond within 45 days. You may use an authorized agent; we may ask for proof that the agent is authorized.
California "Shine the Light": we do not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
We do not track visitors across other websites, so browser "Do Not Track" signals do not change how this site works. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information.
Children's privacy
Our services are for adults who care for dogs. This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Links to other sites
This site links to services we do not control, such as Instagram, WhatsApp, and Google. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and change the "Last updated" date. If the changes are significant, we will let current clients know by email.
